GM, Nostriches! The Nostr Review is a biweekly newsletter focused on protocol updates, exciting programs, the long-form content ecosystem, and key events happening in the Nostr-verse. If you’re interested, join me in covering updates from the Nostr ecosystem!
Quick review: In the past two weeks, daily active pubkeys increased to 253,436. New user growth increased, while profiles with bios also increased by over 711.85%. Events totaled 4.5million and zap volume increased to 16.4 million sats. Additionally, 22 pull requests were submitted to the Nostr protocol, with 3 merged. A total of 101 Nostr projects were tracked, with 14 releasing product updates. During this period, 3 notable events took place, and 3 significant events are upcoming.
Nostr Statistics
Based on user activity, the total daily active pubkeys reached 253,436, reflecting an increase of 126.15% compared to the previous period’s 112,065. The highest daily activity was recorded on March 31st, 2026, with 18,111 active users, representing a 75.36% increase compared to the previous record of 10,328.
The number of new users overall showed significant growth from the last period. In particular, the number of profiles with bios rose exponentially to 699,932, marking a massive increase of about 711.85% compared to the previous record of 86,214. Furthermore, the number of new profiles with contact lists also increased to 171,992, a 78.74% rise from 96,225. Meanwhile, pubkeys writing events surged to 170,116 within this period, representing a 195.35% jump from the previous 57,598.
In terms of content publishing, approximately 4,504,959 total events were published during this period, representing an increase of about 254.02% compared to the 1,272,513 from the previous cycle. Among them, Reposts reached a total of 330,037 within this period, marking a 610.70% increase compared to the previous 46,438.
For zap activity, the total zap amount is about 16.4 million, showing an increase of over 60.47% compared to the previous period.

- Proposes a hybrid P2P extension for Nostr relays (inspired by Spotify’s model) where the Relay acts as a Seed Node, stable clients act as Super Peers (caching/sharing via WebRTC), and others are Casual Peers.

- White Noise is a secure, private, and decentralized chat app built on Nostr and the Marmot protocol with MLS-based encryption. This release focuses on major relay system improvements to reduce connection overload, stabilize message delivery, and optimize login performance, especially for large accounts. It also introduces NIP-C7 reply threading, better handling of deleted messages, real-time metadata updates, in-app bug reporting and support chat, improved error handling, and significant UI/UX refinements, alongside numerous performance optimizations and backend enhancements.
Amethyst - v1.06.0: Polls, Wallets, New Media Player, etc
- Amethyst is a Nostr client for Android. This release adds polls (NIP-85), wallets (NIP-47), calendar (NIP-52), code snippets (NIP-C0), PayTo (NIP-A3), Blossom URIs, long-form posts, voice messages, and basic chess support. It improves DMs, push notifications, media playback, relay management, search, and profiles, adds encrypted uploads, and enhances UI/UX with Material 3 updates. Desktop and Quartz gains NIP-45/NIP-42 relays, NIP-46 Bunker login, multi-column layouts, and QR signer pairing, alongside performance, accessibility, and translation improvements. This was the biggest release, and there were 3 more releases of the week. (v1.06.1, v1.06.2, v1.06.3)
- Amber is a Nostr event signer for Android. The v5.0.4 release improves offline mode by disabling services, Tor, and notifications, fixes connection and encryption issues, adds a 30-second timeout for profile subscriptions, enhances performance when handling multiple requests, and resolves UI bugs with connect screen tabs, alt tags, and QR code accept/reject buttons. This was the latest, and there were also the releases of v5.0.3 and v5.0.2 last week.
- Mostro is a production-ready, censorship-resistant, non-custodial Lightning Network P2P exchange built on Nostr. This release adds Nostr-based exchange rate publishing, includes the Mostro pubkey in order events, removes database encryption, updates default routing fee settings, improves testing coverage for event emissions, and refines GitHub workflows and documentation.
- Aegis is a simple, cross-platform Nostr signer supporting multiple connection methods. This release adds selectable authorization modes, improves the language picker with native language names, and fixes various QR scanning and UI bugs.
- Comet is a note-taking app for Nostr. This release refines the app’s architecture with a hexagonal restructuring, moves the editor and other modules into feature-specific layers, adds numerous unit tests, improves CI and type compatibility, refreshes the relay allowlist, fixes ESLint and typecheck issues, and enhances the build and deployment pipeline for more reliable web releases. This was the biggest release, and there were also a lot more releases last week.
- Primal Android app is the Android app of Primal Nostr client. This release adds deep-linking via primalconnect://, improves wallet exports and transaction handling, updates poll and zap display logic, migrates to ZXing for scanning on AOSP, fixes clipboard, feed paging, and UI issues, enhances LN invoice creation, and improves transaction animations and dev tools for better wallet visibility.
- Nymchat is a lightweight ephemeral Nostr chat client with Bitchat bridging. This release includes hotfixes for double-sanitized mention modals and restrictions on special characters in channel names. This was the latest release, and there were a whole bunch more releases last week.
- Mostro Mobile Client is the secure mobile app for Mostro P2P Bitcoin trading platform. This release adds German language support and NIP-13 proof-of-work for events, and fixes background service startup, chat history loss after reconnect, and image rendering in P2P messages.
- Wisp is a minimal, performant Android client for the Nostr protocol. This release adds support for connecting to local relays, includes related translation updates, and introduces minor version and maintenance changes. This was the latest release, and there were a lot more releases last week.
Nuxtstack - New Developer Tool
- Nuxtstack is a rapid application development (RAD) framework built on Nuxt and Vue, using only JavaScript and no React or TypeScript involved. Inspired by MKStack, it serves as a boilerplate and starter template optimized for fast prototyping and AI-assisted workflows with agents like Goose or Claude Desktop. Nuxtstack is designed to help developers quickly build Nostr-based apps and websites in minutes, streamlining the development process with a focus on simplicity, speed, and AI integration.

- Routstr is a decentralized protocol for private, permissionless AI inference using Nostr for discovery and Cashu for payments. The v0.4.2 release improves payment handling and enforcement, enhances child key management, fixes balance, refund, and migration issues, adds better model visibility and routing, and includes UI, analytics, and documentation updates for improved reliability and usability.
Long-Form Content Eco
In the past two weeks, approximately 22,829 kind 30023 events have been tracked (long-form articles), with over 55% being Bitcoin related articles and 55% related to Nostr and other topics across the Nostr Ecosystem.

The core discussion around decentralized technologies continues to evolve, highlighting the urgent need for the private nature of Decentralised Tech and Bitcoin amidst escalating global geopolitical tensions, including ongoing Iran and US war news. We are witnessing a definitive move toward resilient, user-driven models that prioritize personal freedom over centralized oversight. While the broader tech landscape shifts, the core community remains focused on the signal: leveraging tech and Bitcoin to build sustainable, privacy-centric infrastructures, increasingly supported by Bitcoin grants for sustainable open projects.
Nostr Platform Updates and Expanding Education
As the ecosystem expands, the focus has broadened to include continuous Nostr platforms updates and structured pathways for Learning about Nostr. With a massive influx of new users seeking censorship-resistant communication, the challenge is filtering out the noise and providing clear, foundational guidance. This grassroots approach to teaching lowers the barrier to entry, ensuring that growing communities truly understand the underlying protocols and can navigate these evolving decentralized spaces safely and effectively.
Cultural Foundations and Maximizing AI
To support this cultural shift, the infrastructure is evolving far beyond simple financial transactions to protect and amplify diverse voices. Communities are actively utilizing freedom tech to build better roots for Islam, fostering a vibrant environment that also welcomes other religious, motivational, life, and fictional stories. Furthermore, as artificial intelligence reshapes the digital landscape, the prevailing sentiment on these platforms is empowering rather than fearful: AI can’t replace you if you also maximize it. Creators and developers are learning to harness AI tools in tandem with decentralized networks, blending digital sovereignty with augmented productivity.
