Genesis 1:5 – The First Day
Genesis 1:5 – “God called the light ‘day,’ and the darkness he called ‘night.’ And there was evening, and there was morning — the first day.”
God called the light “day”
Not “it was day.” He called it. He named it. He assigned meaning. Not because the light needed a name. Because naming is authority. Not authority over. Authority to define.
You also have the power to name what’s in your life. To call it what it is. Not to create reality from nothing. To recognize it. To stop calling chaos “order” and control “love.”
And the darkness he called “night”
He didn’t destroy the darkness. He named it. He gave it a place. Boundaries. A role. Not evil. Just not light.
Darkness is not your enemy. It’s the space between. The rest. The unknown. The not-yet.
You don’t have to fear the dark. You just have to stop confusing it with light.
And there was evening, and there was morning — the first day
Evening first. Morning second. Not the other way around. You don’t get the morning without the night. You don’t get the breakthrough without the darkness. You don’t get the harvest without the season of waiting.
The day is not just light. It’s the cycle. The rhythm. The rest. The work. The dark. The light. Both are part of the day.
You are not failing because you’re in the evening. You’re just not at morning yet.
The Decoding
You have been told to fear the dark. To avoid it. To hide from it. To pretend it doesn’t exist.
But the dark is not evil. It’s part of the cycle. It’s where seeds germinate. Where healing happens. Where rest occurs.
Stop fearing the evening. It’s not punishment. It’s preparation.
And morning will come. Not because you earned it. Because that’s what happens after evening.
That’s the first day. That’s the pattern. That’s the door.
