"The Woman in the Tower Chapter 8: The council."

“Whispers transverses the skies of the miserable city as rumours of a bandit was roaming underneath the bed in which they lay down in peace. But such peace that permenates the atmosphere is as temporal as the joy of a man before he witnessed the killing of his beloved. Selijuk and Aamir were already aware of the supposed rumours as they took their route toward the the council hall. But it was a perilous journey as darkness tend to place a not so transparent curtain over their eyes But even curtain are shifted away as daylight penetrates. But even when glimmers of sunlight peaks through the tunnels. Aamir continue walking though the tunnels. Selijuk felt at unease with the methodology of the movement from one place to another as it seemed he was walking in circles. It seemed the organisation which he joined had some level of paranoia…which was putting it lightly as they travelled in a particular route underneath the ground in which it seemed multiple circular routes were taken. It was almost as if the organisation was trying to self-decieve itself in some manner or distort the pattern of movement they take. ‘It’s your first time navigating through these tunnels isn’t it? I’m aware that Arash and Sayyid haven’t spoken of the affair of the nefarious cybernetic network which chases after us. Lest we diverge from the matter at hand, I speak briefly of this, the technologies we use could be used as surveillance weapon against us. Our movements, our touches and transactions are monitored by them. Remember that if you dare to speak of your complaints in our travels’, said Aamir after he saw a hint of bewilderment from Selijuk after transversing in a strange route. But Selijuk’s bewilderment escalated as he didn’t understand what he meant by this. ‘Cybernetic network’. What was he on about? But as his bewilderment transitioned toward curiosity, they had arrived to the council hall. Similar to the hotel in which he was thoroughly welcomed the council hall stood as a landmark across this city. Not only was the council hall magnificently large it was magnificently humble as it avoided shape of the skyscrapers he once gazed up upon and instead the structure was of more…low lying. Seemingly overwhelming for the human but yet does not radiate arrogance. Not only did it lack the arrogance of a tyrant. It was a solid polished structure with clear windows which was attached with gold metal bars around it alongside layer of the brown bricks which protected the insides of the council hall. As Selijuk inspected the the layers and the magnificence of the council hall, Aamir headed straight toward the door which seemed to not be populated by any guests apart from themselves. Aamir looked back and he narrowed his eyes with a sigh in which he said to Selijuk, ‘Many are seduced by crypto, harlots and a crumb of attention. Yet it is a first I’ve seen a man amazed by this particular building. You really quite a unique individual aren’t you Selijuk?’ In which, Selijuk replied, ‘I’m not really.’ Which was a statement that caught Aamir’s surprise as he expected a much more longer and argumentative response from youthful man but he got what he wanted in terms of attention as Selijuk moved away from gazing upon the building and he bended his legs as he shifted towards a movement where he was prepared to fight as he walked steadily towards the organs of the building. As Aamir gently opened the door, which seemed to be unusual from him according to Selijuk, he and Selijuk entered the domain of the fortress in which the councilmen resided in which he saw several men who wore Selham sitting down on the chairs which surrounded the straight table in the middle with the exception of the part of the opposite on one shorter part of the rectangular table on the other side of the room in which a throne situated which was empty at this point in time. All the men who placed themselves on the chair twisted their neck to see who had disrupted during their supposed busy work. Intimidated by this, Selijuk responded with a similar response facially speaking but the councilmen were not pleased with such apparent rudeness as a beardless man with his shoes which resembled the shoe you see amongst the Persian princes jumped on top of the edge of the chair and jumped another one and another one until he jumped in front of the two men who had similar stature as him. The beardless councilman who wore the Selman and those particular shoes took a masculine stance as despite him lacking a beard, his facial features extruded masculinity with his defined jawline, sharp eyes and the lack of fatness within his cheeks, leaked the perfume of fear. And such perfume was not only emitted near his face, his somewhat bony but veingeful hand grabbed a hold of his umbrella by his side which sheltered him from cowardly men. But yet when he pointed the sharp tip of the umbrella in front of Selijuk, he did not see even a molecule of cowardness yet his shaking was apparent as Selijuk steadily reached his pocket. Tensions brewed to such an intense level and it grew and it grew and it grew as both widen their eyes in intimidating each other in this duel. Yet suddenly Selijuk was stopped by the likes of Aamir who seized his wrist ever so tightly. It was of surprise to Selijuk who displayed to him aggression, both passive and assertive, shifting his shoulders forward and in a rather quiet and polite tone did he utter, ‘Do not pay heed to his unsubtle behaviour of today. We have come here to attend this meeting of importance.’ Selijuk was at dismay at this behaviour as he so far did not expect it from someone like him. The councilman in front of him placed his umbrella back at his side and turned around and as he moved, he responded with a warning in a sharp and masculine tone, ‘Arrogance is not tolerated here. Remember that.’ And after he said that warning he jumped straight back to his seat. Another man with a selham appeared on the throne unnoticed by both Selijuk and Aamir. The man was old. No doubt but his head showed no indication of baldness as it was a garden of white hair sprouting on the scalp of the man. He had a tanned complexion with a long white beard. Both of his eyes were greenish which was quite rare to see in these parts. As Selijuk analysed the old man, the old man spoke in a somewhat broken voice that seemed to be gasping for air as he said, ‘It has come to the attention of the council that there has been nuisance in the sewers in the city. This disruption was noticed when the pipes seemingly were clogged. But what we found was not the usual masses stuffing ridiculous amounts of rubbish down the toilet. It was found out there were bombs being stuck inside of it. When we pursued further investigations into this matter, several of our mechanics and several specialists went missing. After they went missing, we sent armed troops into the sewers and to this day they are still missing. It was at that point we requested to be aided by the organisatiom led by Sayyid. As you are familiar with him, you might remember Aamir and his…apprentice? Anyways, as I was saying, we the councilmen wish to preserve our dignity and we do not want to let some cockroach intrude in our city affairs and that is why…’ An explosion bursted. The councilmen shifted their gazes to the sky. Aamir tightened his cheeks as he grabbed the base of his mace without paying attention to the explosion. And Selijuk stared at the sky in awe as he saw a figure emerge from the explosion. A feminine figure at that in which he thereupon witnessed the descending of the woman cloaked in a black garment who had twin blades by each of her hands which each was attached with the chamber and a muzzle of a gun at the opposite side of the handle of blade. Her face was covered whilst her eyes bared the same resemblance with the woman who he once fought. It was her. The woman in the tower.”
