200 days

until FREEDOM

The transition to a Bitcoin-based economy is no longer a distant theory—it is a countdown.

As Alberta approaches October 19, 2026, (200 days) we need a hard currency that Mark Carney cannot simply print and hand over to Brookfield. We need a reliable way to exchange value with fellow Albertans and other Canadians we choose to do business with.

For some time now, my goal has been to make sending and receiving Bitcoin feel as natural and private as a handshake in a local community. Right now, I can only do that with 22 people in real life through NOSTR zaps. I wonder how many this month’s newsletter onboards.

If you visit my NOSTR profile, you’ll see that over 500 people follow me there; yet I have only received bitcoin from approximately 50 people. Just like X, Facebook, or LinkedIn, it takes time for people to adopt a new protocol.

We should start using Bitcoin and NOSTR today for one simple reason: they provide real resistance to de-banking and censorship.

As Alberta moves toward greater financial sovereignty, we cannot rely on centralized payment processors that can freeze accounts or de-platform users based on shifting political or corporate agendas. NOSTR changes that. It is a decentralized protocol with no central CEO and no single point of failure. It runs on relays. If one relay blocks you, you simply move your keys to another.

NOSTR enables permissionless trade—exchanging Bitcoin directly between individuals in a way that matches Bitcoin’s own uncensorable nature.

With the clock ticking toward Alberta’s potential separation, the focus must shift from merely holding Bitcoin to actively using it in everyday life.

NOSTR offers the most human-centric interface for the Lightning Network. It transforms Bitcoin from a cold digital asset into a vibrant, social tool for building real community. No need to hunt for someone’s phone number or email address just send them some money. As long as you know someone who knows that person your in business. Come hangout online

For this farmer from Hythe, Bitcoin means no more “pending” transactions, no more “service unavailable” messages, and no more predatory bank fees or sudden account restrictions and who doesn’t like AAA Beef.

It’s simply Albertans talking to Albertans—peer to peer, permissionless, and private. Yes this war will cause money printing but you can get into hard assets now.

Welcome to 2026.
