Chapter 5: Building in Public
Now anonymous again, he decided to build.
Not because he knew how.
But because everyone else was doing it.
He started a small project. A simple thing. A tool nobody asked for but everyone had opinions about.
Feedback arrived immediately.
“This should be client-side only.”
“You’re doing it wrong.”
“This already exists.”
“Nice work, keep going.”
He learned to ignore half of it and cherish the rest.
Each update was posted as a long-form note. Each bugfix celebrated like a protocol upgrade.
Someone forked his project. He took it as a compliment.
For the first time, he wasn’t just posting GMs.
He was contributing.
