§Hackathon Summary

The Somnia Mini Games Hackathon, held from July 25 to August 11, 2025, marked Somnia’s inaugural collaboration with DoraHacks to showcase its EVM-compatible Layer‑1 blockchain. The event attracted 203 registered developers and produced 53 approved mini-game projects. Participants were encouraged to create sports contests, betting experiences, and other Web3 mini-games on the Somnia Testnet.

A diverse range of playable demos emerged from the hackathon, including interactive sports games and on-chain betting mechanisms. All projects utilized Somnia’s high throughput and sub-second finality. Each qualifying team received a share of the $5,000 USDC prize pool and gained visibility through the Somnia Quest campaign, which was established to promote real user engagement and on-chain activity.

The event demonstrated Somnia’s suitability for creative, user-focused, and community-driven applications, underscoring its ability to process high volumes of transactions for gaming and other real-time consumer services. The strong participation and variety of submissions highlighted rising developer interest in Somnia and the potential of its infrastructure for Web3 gaming.

The Somnia Prize recognized technical achievements in building and deploying functional, engaging mini-games on the Somnia testnet. Prizes were awarded in two tiers, with evaluation criteria including project impact, technical innovation, and effective use of blockchain features.

§First Prize Winners

• Somnia Snake – A gambling mini-game where users wager STT tokens, roll dice to move, and cash out before landing on-chain snakes, utilizing Somnia for provably fair gameplay and real-time rewards.
• Infinite Quiz – An AI-driven quiz platform integrating blockchain gamification. Players select quiz themes, stake STT tokens, and interact with dynamic payout smart contracts.
• MindSweeper – Decentralized Minesweeper with provably fair mechanics, customizable risk, and token betting managed by secure smart contracts.
• Tank Defender On Somnia – Unity-based Web3 tower defense game with NFT gating, ERC20 integration, and on-chain progress via Thirdweb SDK on the Somnia testnet.
• BlockSniper – An arcade game focused on mining target blocks. It uses the Somnia network for transaction precision, prize pools, and user profiles.
• Catch That Coin – GameFi on Somnia – GameFi project combining NFT-gated access, STT/GEM token rewards, and spin-to-earn mechanics in a Unity-based Web3 setting.
• Temple Run – GameFi on Somnia – Endless runner with NFT gating and ERC20 rewards, enabling token earnings for in-game achievements on the Somnia testnet.
• Quack Shot – GameFi on Somnia – Duck shooting mini-game with NFT-gated entry, GEM rewards, and on-chain gameplay score conversion to STT tokens.
• WordGame – Word guessing game based on Farcaster, where players stake STT and are rewarded for speed and accuracy, fully deployed on Somnia.
• Chess – Decentralized chess with AI opponents, ELO ratings, and immutable records via Somnia smart contracts.
• Somnia Horizon – Roguelike space shooter featuring decentralized leaderboards and automated combat, using Somnia for score verification and upgrades.
• SkyAscent – Balloon navigation game as a Farcaster Mini App, includes competitive leaderboards and token incentives through Somnia.
• Somnia Zombie Smash – Arcade whack-a-mole game with NFT gating, VIP rewards, ERC20 tokens, and point-to-token mechanics on Somnia.
• Somnia Spooky Dash – Arcade dodge-and-collect game with NFT gating, ERC20 tokens, and blockchain-enabled score conversion.
• Somnia Bullseye Buddy – Dart wheel game emphasizing precision, utilizing NFT gating, ERC20 rewards, and on-chain exchanges.
• Somnia Cowboy Quickshot – Arcade shooter with NFT gating and token incentives, integrating targets and digital rewards on Somnia.
• mineSomnia – On-chain Mines gambling game employing smart contracts for provable fairness and immediate, verifiable outcomes.
• Somnia doodle – Platform-based mini-game similar to Doodle Jump, offering blockchain-based SOM rewards and STT token swaps.
• Somnia Mech Battle – Arcade shooter using Unity, featuring NFT gating, VIP memberships, and GEM rewards with secure token handling on Somnia.
• Helix Jump 3D – Web3 tower rotation game awarding ERC-20 tokens through Somnia and Thirdweb SDK.
• Somnia Space Defender – 2D space shooter game with play-to-earn SSD tokens, multiple difficulties, and on-chain score reporting.
• Ball-to-Ring – Color-matching Unity game that rewards skill with ERC-20 tokens using Somnia Test Network and Thirdweb SDK.
• Best-Throw – Arcade throwing game enabling instant ERC-20 payouts through on-chain scoring.
• Bongo Cat – Rhythm note game where player achievements are verifiable on the Somnia blockchain.
• Adventurous-hail-Game – Unity arcade game for hail sorting, offering ERC-20 rewards for accurate play.
• BEAT HAMSTER – Whack-a-mole style game with transparent on-chain score tracking and redeemable token rewards.
• Somnia Racer – 3D racing game with NFT cars, tournament features, and global blockchain leaderboards.
• Memory Arena – Memory card game incorporating blockchain score verification and token rewards for top performers.
• Somnia Football – Football arcade integrating wallet support, blockchain-based gameplay rewards, and verifiable scoring.
• OnchainVampireSurvivors – Roguelite survival with blockchain leaderboards, VRF randomness, and social wallet integration.
• Somnia Mines – Crash gambling game with advanced smart contracts on Somnia; note that the frontend is incomplete and blockchain integration is limited.
• KILZ – 2D zombie survival game using Phaser.js, offering $KILZ token rewards and on-chain leaderboards.
• Somnia Verse – Procedurally generated dungeon crawler delivering blockchain loot, enemy encounters, and $DGN token minting.
• RocketCandle – Physics-based puzzle where rocket launches grant RocketFUEL tokens, utilizing Somnia for transactional support.
