Open for Comment: Safety Zone; Straits of Mackinac, Mackinaw City, MI
Homeland Security Department — The Coast Guard is proposing to establish a temporary safety zone for navigable waters within a 100-yard radius of the center span of the Mackinac Bridge. The safety zone is needed to protect personnel, vessels, and the marine environment from a marine event involving swimmers under the bridge. This proposed rulemaking would prohibit persons and vessels from being in the safety zone unless specifically authorized by the Captain of the Port, Sector Northern Great Lakes. We invite your comments on this proposed rulemaking. (30 days remaining)
