The Devil Wears a Lot More Than Prada
WHAT’S HAPPENING. The Devil Wears Prada Is Coming Back
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is out on set. And the world is watching.
Andy and Miranda are back to work, just as the rest of us prepare to return to the office after summer. The timing feels almost calculated, and the fashion is already keeping fans completely obsessed.
The looks are being dissected, screenshotted, and analysed before the cameras have even stopped rolling. Meryl Streep pacing Manhattan in monochrome grey skirt suits and bright red Jacquemus pumps. Emily Blunt in pinstripe suiting layered over a dark corset, Dior bag in hand. And most tellingly, Andy in Phoebe Philo and Nili Lotan with (naturally) Prada heels - but still carrying that signature beat-up vintage Coach satchel from 2006.
That last detail matters. Because while we still don’t know much about the plot yet, we can already tell that everything has shifted since the original dropped 18 years ago. Fashion still matters, obviously, but its role has evolved. Office wear looks nothing like it used to. Influence works differently. And most importantly, we’re not the same people who first watched Andy fumble down the Runway closet.
There’s discourse online about whether we’re ruining the magic by analysing every behind-the-scenes glimpse before we’ve even seen a trailer. But here’s what’s actually interesting: these set photos aren’t just fashion eye candy. They’re already telling us something crucial about how power, taste, and workplace fashion have transformed.
The signs are everywhere. We just need to decode them.
